Someone just recently brought up about players coming in Dust 514 from COD/BF3 and this made me think. The majority of these newcomers might be a cause of concern for some because the devs might put in changes reflected on their feedback moreso than the regular players like us. While Dust 514 won't completely become COD/BF3 clones, it might become very similar to where everything's nerfed, easier to play, or become quickly action-paced, losing the EVE/Dust flavor. I was a COD player for many years and coming to Dust has completely changed the way I think about things. I love Dust even if it's far from perfect and I want it to stand on its own from every other games. I know it's easy to say that it won't change or clone like the others, but that remains to be seen when it becomes well-known and people start getting burnt out and leaving COD/BF. What are your thoughts on this? |

I could be wrong, but someone brought up that changing the DMZ will see a display of +3,000 to +50,000 people. Mine says 2,450 right now and I haven't changed any settings on my router or the PS3. I did see about 50,000 once shortly before the Uprising update. But I agree, it will take some time for people to learn that Dust 514 exists. |

Thats because CCP was padding the number by including how many people were logged in to EVE This^ And the most Ive EVER seen online was 4135 while the least I have seen is 2 ( tho in there defense that was RIGHT after shutdown )
So it's that low. I expected it to be really about 50,000. But aren't EVE and Dust already merged together to bring that number up? |

Well, I actually don't mind that it's low at this point since it's like EVE Online where it had about 300,000 subscribers (last time I checked when I used to be on that game a few years ago,) compared to WoW which were in the millions. As the numbers gradually increase, it will be healthy but not overhyped like COD/BF3 unless if Dust does become a clone like them. I'm hoping that if Dust does stand on its own without bending over to the newcomers, then it will be equal to EVE Online where all the mature folks will be for the most part. |

The majority of the younger and more casual playerbases in COD/BF3 will not have the patience to last long here. Those that do might very well have some good ideas to bring to the table.
I suppose so. BF3 certainly does have some interesting stuff, though I have only played it a little. |

Console FPSs cant survive like EVE has, CCP ( and everyone else ) needs to realize this. I will give DUST about a Year untill Destiny releases and then we will see just how good DUST is. As of right now DUST has virtually no Compitition ( other then AAA FPSs ) so if done right they can lock down the Market and actually have a fighting chance against Bungie and Destiny
I posted a thread about this a while back and while I hate to say it, it does look like Destiny will gobble Dust up because of Activision and Bungie because of the large amount of $$$ pouring into it. If Dust does improve dramatically to have a fighting chance like you say, then I will be happy. |
